Labor Force Dynamics

Millington is a study in contrast. The city's population is around 12,000 people today. We are sitting pretty between densely populated Memphis to the south and the bedroom community of south Tipton County very close to our north. This combination makes our workforce numbers of well trained and qualified employees so much larger than any other town our size. And we still have all the benefits of small hometown living.

Shelby County Schools' academic performance is at an all-time high. The system's nine-year academic trend shows dramatic improvement. SCS has progressed from eight "Bs," one "A" and one "D" on the 2000 TN Report Card to straight "As." SCS is one of only three of Tennesssee's 136 systems to have made all "As" on the TN Report Card the last three years in a row. Please make that 4 in a Row! New TN Report Card is out and SCS made straight "As" for the fourth year in a row.
